ML, how far!
Voice assistants listens to us too much, let us talk what happens if we deploy ML to do more.
We have a lot of smart objects. Automation has been around a long time now. Turn off the TV, turn on the TV, you just need a voice command.
Turn on the lights by just walking into space and turn them off when walked out.
Sensors sense things and actuators drive actions accordingly.
Now it’s turn to add Machine Learning to these objects.
Consider an oven which can tell you the optimal temperature to bake cookies. We can have delicious cookies and save electricity.
Can a camera with a face recognition module communicate with an air conditioner to set the most comfortable temperature based on a person?
Voice assistants perform tasks such as playing music or video, calling a person, retrieving information from the internet but what if we add a Recommender System to it, and voice assistants start recommending items to us.
Will we change our decisions based on what items are recommended to us?
Can this be a new advertising model, personalized products to people?
Will we think less and less further down the line?
What would define the true success of an ML or AI model, that it’s predictions or recommendations are so perfect that we humans let go of our intuitions?
I think this is scarier than the robots rising, what do you think!, do let me know in the comments.
